Glamzy How To: The Basics
1: Choose a Face Shape
The first step in Glamzy is to choose a face shape. This can be the shape of your face or, for the professional artist, the shape of one of your clients. Working with different face shapes allows for experimentation to find out what colors do and don't work with each shape. 2: Choose a Makeup Style
The second step is to choose a Makeup Style. This choice will determine the amount of makeup that can be applied to the canvas. The "Subtle" and "Casual" styles are great to quickly experiment with eye shadows and lipstick, while the "Expressive" and "Complete" styles are great for creating complete looks.
3: Choose Colors
After choosing a style, a canvas will appear on the screen. If you start applying makeup you will see a default color. Changing colors is different on Android and iOS, so the explanations below are divided by device type.
- iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad:
To change colors on these devices, simply touch the Color tab at the bottom of the screen. From here there are several sections to choose, Makeup brands, "My Inventory" sections, Selected colors, and Eye color. Browse the makeup collections to find a color you like and tap it. The color will be selected and the canvas will be shown.
- Android Devices:
To change colors on Android devices press the menu button. Some devices do not have a physical menu button, but use an on-screen menu button. The menu button icon looks different on different devices, so please look at your device instruction booklet or do a Google search to find out which button is the menu button. After pressing the menu button a menu will show up with the middle button being "Colors". Select the colors button and then browse the makeup brands, selected colors or eye color.
4: Choose a Brush
When you have the color that you want, it's time to choose a brush. The brush controls can be found in the "Brush" tab on iOS devices or by pressing the menu button on Android devices. There are three basic controls for the brush. Brush Size will change the size of the brush (no surprise), Brush Opacity will change how dark the color will be applied, and Brush Edge will give the brush a softer or harder edge.
5: Apply Makeup
Now to the fun stuff. When you have your color and brush selected the next step is to start applying makeup to the canvas. This can be done from all angles and rotations. Also, all versions of Glamzy have the ability to Zoom. On Android devices this is pretty obvious, but on iOS devices the "Zoom" tab is hidden under the "Apply" tab. Simply touch the "Apply" tab and it will change to "Zoom", now you can pinch the screen to zoom in like you would a photo, map, or web browser. There are many techniques to apply makeup in Glamzy and it differs by device. If you would like to learn more browse the Home section on this site or do a search in the above search box for "How To".
6: Share
After you have created a masterpiece, the next step is to share your canvas. This can be done in many ways.
1: You can submit your canvas to this site for the whole world to see, this can be done by using the "Submit Canvas" option in the canvas menu.
2: You can email the canvas directly to a friend, family, or client. This option is also located in the canvas menu.
3: Another way to share a canvas is to use the share buttons, like the ones below this article. After a canvas has been submitted you can share it via Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Others. This is also the best way to share a canvas that you didn't create, but really like.
4: If you are on an iOS device you can save the canvas as an image and email it to anyone you'd like. All saved photos will show up in your camera roll in the Photos app.
